From grassroots physical training movements, sports in Quang Ninh have undergone a significant transformation, aligning with a development strategy that integrates sports, tourism, heritage, and the economy.

The year 2025 marked the 10th edition of the Ha Long International Heritage Marathon, the first and only race in Viet Nam to meet international standards. With the participation of 15,000 domestic and international runners, the event has evolved beyond a mere sporting competition into a distinctive tourism product, contributing to service sector growth and promoting the image of Quang Ninh as a dynamic, friendly and culturally rich destination. In addition to its diverse natural landscapes, ranging from forests to the sea, the rapid development of sports tourism is supported by a synchronised infrastructure system, including expressways across the province, modern airport and maritime ports. With a wide range of accommodation facilities and internationally standardised golf courses, Quang Ninh is well positioned to host large-scale sporting events.
