Russian visitors are considered not only a high-spending and long-staying international market, but also a suitable market for Quang Ninh’s orientation toward high-quality and sustainable tourism development. The province’s tourism sector is gradually opening up a new approach to this highly promising market through a systematic, specialised and long-term strategy.

A group of more than 100 Russian tourists recently chose the heritage cruise route connecting Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay for a five-day, four-night training and leisure programme. During the journey, along with training sessions and meetings, they explored caves, experienced local cuisine and immersed themselves in the magnificent landscape of one of the world’s rare and unique heritage bays.

Welcoming Russian tourist groups is seen as a positive signal for the province’s efforts to expand international markets, as well as evidence of growing interest from the Russian travellers in Quang Ninh as a destination. From direct tourism promotion and business networking between the both sides to the development of tourism products tailored specifically to Russian tourists, Quang Ninh is gradually opening up a new approach to attract this high-spending, long-staying market segment.
