Ha Long Bay attracts international visitors

16 March, 2026

During the current peak season, international visitors account for up to 90 per cent of the total number of tourists sightseeing and staying overnight on Ha Long Bay. Alongside ongoing efforts to conserve and preserve the natural landscape, authorities and tourism operators have placed strong emphasis on service quality and visitor reception standards in order to create favourable impressions for visitors.

Ha Long Bay typically receives around 8,000–10,000 visitors on an average day. On February 28 (a weekend day), it welcomed approximately 12,000–13,000 visitors.

Since the beginning of the year, Ha Long Bay has welcomed more than 505,000 tourist arrivals, of which over 90 per cent are international visitors from Europe, North America, South Korea, China, India… Nearly 18,000 cruise trips have been licensed to transport visitors for sightseeing and overnight stays on the bay. Attractions across Ha Long Bay have been upgraded to present a refreshed appearance, while cruise operators have introduced new onboard activities to enrich visitor experiences.

International tourists enjoy taking photos at Ha Long Bay.

The reputation of a heritage destination is shaped not only by its natural scenery and cultural values, but also by service standards, professionalism and hospitality reflected in every visitor’s journey. Positive impressions that resonate beyond each journey not only encourage visitors to return but also generate a sustained, organic promotional effect for Quang Ninh’s tourism.
